  1. In my opinion, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the president of Iran is the most dangerous world leader right now. Since taking office in 2005 Ahmadinejad has been a disruptive figure in world affairs. Ahmadinejad strongly supports the development of Iran's nuclear program despite direct orders from the United Nations Security Council to stop it. He has been quoted saying that Israel should be “wiped off the map,” and even though, for my own personal reasons, I strongly dislike the Israeli government, saying that any place occupied with people should be destroyed in tremendously wrong. This blatant threat to another country raises very serious calls for concern and should only be more reason to restrict Iran’s nuclear program. Ahmadinejad has also calling the Holocaust “a myth.” Now, I consider myself a reasonable person, but someone who is in charge of an entire country should have more intelligence than to call the horrors of the Holocaust “a myth.” I find that statement to be extremely ignorant and disrespectful. With statements like these, I strongly question Ahmadinejad’s ability to be president of Iran in the critical state the world is currently in. In a time where nations should be working together and collectively, create solutions for the major problems of today, Ahmadinejad has done nothing but cause problems and has hindered progress for nations all over the world.
On June 13, 2009, Iran had announced that Mr. Ahmadinejad had been re-elected, with more than 60 % of the vote. Due to the size of the margin he won by, the speed of the news (which came only 4 hours after the last of some 40 million-paper ballots was cast), and a campaign in which his chief opponent appeared to have greater popular support is more than enough evidence for me to believe that Ahmadinejad had tampered with the votes. The Basij Forces, or Mobilization Resistance Force, is a volunteer militia under the Revolutionary Guards. The militia was ordered to vote for Ahmadinejad and get as many others to do so. Iranian authorities believe that with the militia’s mobilization its active numbers could total almost 1 million people or more. Reformists say that the Basij Forces violated prohibitions against military involvement in politics by bring in votes for Ahmadinejad. Although the military was supposed to avoid politics in Iran, it has clearly played a role here as it has in the past. With actions like this, it seems that Ahmadinejad will do almost anything to remain in power of Iran. It is because of corruption of government like this that I feel Ahmadinejad is one of the most dangerous world leaders today but also that he is not suitable to be productive world leader in today’s world.
